With The Trees specializes in furniture, built-ins, and interior remodeling – especially those projects that require outside-of-the-box approaches. “Design-build” is an approach to building that integrates design into the same process, involving the client along the way. Whether a bathroom remodel or a walnut desk, we start by getting to know you: What do you care about? How do you live? What do you need from the project? How is it supposed to make you feel? From there, we’ll begin a collaborative design process that will inform the rest of our work together. Clients are updated throughout the process, including follow-up after project completion.
I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania where making things work with what you had was the norm. After high school, I joined the Marine Corps. Since then I’ve worked in various endeavors from building bamboo bikes, real estate, managing commercial solar energy projects, and finally woodworking and renovation. When I left my career in solar energy to start woodworking and remodeling, I was driven by a desire to work with people on more creative, sustainable solutions for their living spaces. Whether a built in, furniture commission, or oddly shaped room, I love the challenge and reward of building unique solutions that support the way people want to live. I am committed to using sustainable practices wherever possible, including local wood sourcing, sustainable materials, low-waste practices, and supporting energy-efficient build-outs.
